Frontside and Backside Guide
This is a very common topic amongst most beginners and even some intermediates and I think someone (skateboard city) should clear this all up so that is what I am going to do.
Ok first of all there isn't really one simple rule for knowing all of this but once you have read through all of this below you should know what is backside and what is frontside.
Grinds and Slides: For a F/S Grind or slide of any kind you have to come up to your target facing it - Your toes on your board should be facing the object, you should be able to see it in front of you not behind you. If that is what is going on then you know you are doing a F/S grind or slide of some sort, for a B/S you have to be the exact opposite. Your back should be facing your target - you should have to turn your head and look over your shoulder to see it and the heels of your feet should be pointing at the target, then you know that it is Backside. Many people get confused on this because the think the easier one should be called a frontside and harder a backside. This is kind of correct if you think like most people on a 50-50, that F/S is easier then B/S, or that you learned F/S first. Then when you are talking about board slides a B/S is easier and most people call it a F/S. That is wrong, go by the rules above...

I was just comparing your guide and the one on the A-Z skateboarding tricks website for the bs/fs, and they differ a little bit. Here is the link the other guide:
http://www.dxinteractive.com/skatetricks/frontsideandbackside.html
Everything is the same for bs and fs, EXCEPT for fakie, they have them switched around.
At the end of your guide, it says:
"Ok so now you know all you need to know about B/S and frontside, the same rules apply to when doing fakie, switch and nollie. So If you can see what is in front of you for the first 90-180 degrees and you are doing a Fakie 180 you know you are doing a Fakie F/S 180, or a F/S Half-Cab. If you are doing a nollie 360 and for the first 90 degrees your back is facing the direction you are going and you cannot see what is in front of you then you know you are doing a Nollie B/S 360."
In a world where nobody knows whats bs and fs, that just made it a little more confusing. Could you help?

Thanks alot...it is so clear to me now. I already had the grinds part of it without a probelm, but I couldn't understand why a f/s pop shuvit went kinda behind me and a b/s went in front. I get it now!! What about for a 50-50, when you line yourself up and ollie straight onto it??

Roboman's site is right. You face backward half way through a frontside half cab and forward halfway through a backside half cab. With nollie, switch, and regular, it's the other way.
areg, for goofy skaters, clockwise is frontside, counterclockwise is backside

^ I agree. This tip really needs fixing... I mean even just watching KOTR clears that up.

Haha you use that reference so much. I could re-write that section if someone is willing to edit it in?

ok... it depends which way the front of your body faces when doing spins with any kind of trick. For fs, you ollie and the front of your body is facing the direction you are going, for instance, riding down a street and you do a 180 and turn so that your stomach is facing forwards... that is fs. it doesn't matter what stance you ride in, it's just the way your body faces. Got it?

I've been surfing for quite a while and when your surfing down the line its easy to think about f/s and b/s because when you can't see the wave without looking over your shoulder its b/s.
Now when I skate its like you if you can see a ledge its f/s and if you can't its b/s. My friend said no thats wrong! But watching videos its easy to see when I imagine the object is a wave.
On even b/s 180 ollies (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iobMGSQq5rY) as seen on this youtube link have the guy with his back to the stares at one point so this goes with what I'm saying?
You guys with me on this?

^ It works for grinds and stalls, but some of the stances thats not the case with.
