like 70's stuff, or any other era that sounds similar. I just started listening to a few of the more popular artists from back then and I love it. So shoot me some recommendations, I don't care how obvious as I don't have much rock anyways.

thanks man, big ass list.

I actually have a lot of those on cd/cassette/vinyl in the basement from my dad's old collection, but I'll be sure to slowly listen to most of that list.

no record player = no way to listen to the boxes of vinyl records.

I plan on getting one soon but I don't have one yet..

And some of the records are my grandma's soul stuff from like, the 40's and 50's, and I'm pretty sure that stuff is really obscure on the internet.

Don't cheap out on the turntable/system, just a bit of advice, you don't need to go all out 60000$, but something decent makes all the difference, keep the view point that you are trying to recreate the exact sound being played onto that record....

you could always just get some titles and bands and download for now though, see what you like and don't like and what not...

I don't know enough about the very old stuff, and collecting the vinyl, but google search always gets it done wtihin the first few pages

yeah man thanks for that tip.

and I figure for now I'll just download the artists that sound interesting from my dad's collection/that I know are interesting, and that'll hold me over for awhile.

And I'm definitely keeping all the older records around regardless, even if they're worth nothing I'd like to see if there's anything worth sampling in there.

yep.. I even kept some of the records and CD's I've bought that I don't like that much solely for the novelty of them... I can't stand Cream, but I haven't gotten rid of my Goodbye album...
