What do you guys mean when you say flick out and not down?

Also, during the few times I actually get it to flip right, it goes really far in front of me. How can I fix this?

when you say the board go really far in front of you. I know your problem, what you are doing it poping the tail forward intested of down. try it

not to flick down means do not flick your toes down toward the ground, it caues the board to go vertical.
