are there any cons of getting or having risers on the board?
Risers make your trucks feel higher.
That's it.

I have always used risers. Unless you like skating a really low board there really is no cons. It's basically personal preference. I have no proof, but I feel like it does provide ever so slight shock absorption and helps prevent stress cracks on decks. (But this is just in my opinion.)

I have rubber risers. I think another name for them is shock pads, and they might help reduce pressure cracks. The real reason I use them though is to reduce wheel bite.

Why?
I've spend half my skating lifetime with them and half without. I really like them, instances of pressure cracks went down, trucks don't get loose quite as fast, and if they are a bit loose then at least there is friction between the baseplate and the board to stop it shifting.
I know of no downsides unless you are using screws which are too short and barely screw on with a riser there.

Risers can make your board feel a little different. It makes your ride slightly higher and dampens the vibrations a little. If you prefer the feel without risers, then that might be the only real con.
But risers should help ease the wear on your deck and bolts by at least a little.
