right now i have an 8.1 and i like it but im looking at an 8.25 and im just worried that when i get it i might not like it. So anyone who has an 8.25 how do you like it? i mostly i skate stairs and gaps so would it help on the big stuff very much more than my current deck?

They do help on bigger gaps and stairs. I just got done skating a 8.25. I learned a good amount of tricks on it like kick flip back tails. The only reason I stopped skating them is cause it was too heavy. i'd have to put more effort in to certain tricks like nollie flips/heels. it works good though if you can get over how heavy it is.

Yeah I'm riding an 8.25 now. I like it a lot.
I've been riding 8'25s for a little while, they are awesome and don't bother me in anyway for flip tricks. Before that I had a 8'125 and couldn't even feel a difference when I moved up
All I skate is 8.25. Have been for a long ass time.
You won't notice anything different if you're moving up from an 8.1.
Get an 8.25.

It seems like people are riding bigger boards now. In the last Chris Cole interview I read he said he was riding an 8.5 now. I saw a video on YouTube with Koston setting up an 8.125 and I'm pretty sure he used to always skate 7.5 decks. Back in the mid 90's it seemed like every deck was around 7.5. I remember having a Chico Brenes deck that was actually less than 7.5 at one time. Those boards seem tiny now.

Koston probably skated 7.5 like back when he first was on eS. But I think he has been skating 8s for a while. Well, Koston and Cole are a lot taller and have pretty big feet compared to the average skater. I know Koston wears size 11. It makes sense for them to move up in size past the 8 mark.
Sucks at skating

Pretty much the only size I ride.

8.25 is better than all other sizes out there. it's perfect. enough board to land on comfortably, without a doubt, and it's still easy to flip. i mean, if you're one of those kids that skates flat and just does triple flips, and nollie flip back noseblunt nollie big spin reverts, don't get 8.25, but if you skate a lot of flat, and a lot of everything, i would definitely suggest getting an 8.25. do it. i dare you. it's all i skate. but i did get an 8.5 to test it out, see whats up.

I alternate between 8.25 and 8.5, I cant decide which one I like more. I think 8.5s are easier to skate with.

yeah, thats the closest I could find as well, I think real has an 8.8 or it might be creature. Those are the only two companies that always have a deck over 8.5 though.

they didn't make it longer haha, my local board company does that, their 7.5s are the same length as their 8.5s usually on pro decks they add like a half inch or an inch to the length.

I never skated an 8.1 but I went from 8 to 8.25 and it changed up my game a lot for the better. I do have to put more effort to get up high but it has made a kick flips way easier.
