I'm not sure how to start this topic off, but hopefully by explaining the situation you can go from there and be on the same level as me.

I'm just curious, how many of you guys have a picture that is actually significant to you, that you could talk about all day. That you can look in and just bask in the memories?

Recently, staying up til 3 oclock on a school night. I found an old picture of myself on the internet from 2006. Just looking at it, I sat there for a good 15 minutes just thinking about everything it reminded me of. Like, this is the most powerful emotion or feelings I've ever gotten from a picture,no, any kind of visual stimulation. It represents so many parts of my life that I dearly miss and have lost, Or parts that will soon be lost. I'm not sure what to say about it, It was just an odd phenomenon that happened to me and I was wondering if any of you cats could relate to it

I know what you're saying. I can pull out a souveineer from a trip I went on and relive that whole trip and just think back on those memories and it gets me emotional cuz that trip had a lot of special memories.

it's more of a mental picture, cause I hardly ever take real pictures, but yeah I have one like that too.

Fuck yeah, I'm the same from when I went to America last year, everything I have from that trip holds a place in my heart so dearly.

When I was super little, my mom was real into scrapbooking.. And I always thought it was lame, and didn't really figure I'd ever care to sit down and check out pictures of something, y'know? Seemed boring. But she made so many. Documented like.. The first 12 years of my life and shit.

I've looked back at them a few times and stuff.. And just, fuck... So much stuff can be said about the photos

I don't think 1000 words could even come close to measuring up to a picture, in a way. Like, some things we can't express, it's that simple. Like what whitetrash was saying, how you can relive an entire period of your life, you will never be able to express to anyone in any amount of words what that trip means to you, yaknow?

Reminds me of this cute little quote i read once, 'the most profound things are inexpressible.' It's sorta like, our own worlds of experience and personality can only be shared to a degree, words can only say so much before they don't mean anything.

A picture can mean the universe to one person, and mean absolutely nothing to another. You can tell that person how you feel about the picture and how much it means to you, but the words you describe it with are only words; prefaces of ideas thought up by one individual regarding a general theme.

So a picture isn't worth a single word, sorta like you can't measure length in pounds.

No kidding. It hit me the other day how old Myspace is. Sure, not super old overall.. But I've had mine for like.. What, 4 years? I still have the old photos up on it that were my first ones... Haha, I was like "Fuck, I looked young."

Talk about goin' back. I sure have grown up a lot, though.

No, but really. That's my niece, rocking a weird face. But fuck, I remember taking that image and putting it up and shit.. And now she looks NOTHING like that for the most part. Haha, she's only 9 now, but compared to that image, she looks so grown up.

Fucking weird to look at... (weird also because she's laughing, and I dunno why.. Considering she's on the ground because I pulled a chair out from under her when she was going to sit down =\ )

Man none of the pictures i've looked at of myself from years bad bring back good thoughts simply because I wasn't being me then but it's nice to see how much i've grown and matured from then and that i'm actually myself now.

I always get that. Even from photos from last summer give me that feeling. I love nostalgia but I hate it at the same time, because I wish I could go back to those times.

The worst shit is like.. Looking at a handful of images from like.. 2 years ago. The friends I had, I mean.

Such good people, really. One of them was like.. You know how you meet up with somebody and talk a lot and shit for a while, and are great friends.. But then slowly just end up talking and shit and just become 'acquaintances'.. And I can look back at pictures and shit and just remember the times and shit.

Every day back then was the same, really. Chill during the day, fuck with whatever (games, skating, random shit).. And then an night we'd all do whatever (three of us, one of which I'm still good friends with and in contact with often) and get fucked up. Sometimes it was weed, sometimes we'd drink, and sometimes we did both (this was when I was 'new' to substances, so just one of those had me set hard!)

It was repetitive, sure.. But it sure as fuck never got old! Well, maybe it did, I dunno. It sure didn't get old to me, personally...

.. Shit, but now I'm rambling. I could go on and on about that person. They were really weird, in ways. There was like.. They weren't religious, but they were spiritual in ways.. And it was something to me.. Probably one of the most unique individuals I've ever met in my life.. And fuck, I just stopped talking to them. But it's weird because I think about em every day almost... And when I see them or talk to them, I play it off as all casual, but in my head it feels so fucking weird in so many ways..

And I feel weird to make anything out of it.. So I just don't mention it and shit. I dunno. But when I look back at the pictures and shit, it's weird to think about in a few ways...

It's even weirder too look at yourself in old pictures from like disneyland, you're like "hey I remember that, that was giant" and then you visit there again and you say "damn this is small".

Yeah, I know. There are a lot of words and shit like that I write a lot without even realizing I am doing it. I don't notice it when I write it, but if I go back and re-read it I'm like "Fuck..."

I went to Europe for the first time and kept a diary of it. Now looking at it, from all the words I've used to describe it, and all the images I drew to remember it, I wish I could go back and revisit it. There are memories of it so perfect, and I hope it'll stay like that forever

What? Full of colors? Maybe I just am a bit lucky, and live in a pretty scenic part or something. But I wouldn't say that that tree is full of colors.

Shanghai must have some boring looking trees >.>'

swordman540

It does. its just green. there is almost no color variations unless you go to the really popular places, because the government only pretties up the popular places

Iskatehard

=\ Ah, I didn't think of it. Shanghai is pretty big in terms of population, I think.. So I guess nature isn't really common there as it is in some places..

Fuck.. I've always lived in rural parts of Kentucky, and just recently moved to a rural city in Tennessee.. Nature is about the only neat thing around here to look at..

edit-

haha, might as well mention.. I always have wanted to visit Scotland. I love the pictures I see of it.. The rolling hills and shit.. It just looks so peaceful to me... But shit, I hear a lot of people say that it looks a lot like the stuff we have where I live.. But I have a hard time believing it.

There's almost too much nature around here, in ways. Haha, I went to the beach last year to visit a friend.. And was like "fuck.. I forgot how different this place looks. It's incredible".. Looks so different than around here. And haha, I get tired of looking at the stuff here everyday, and I have a hard time believing anybody could get tired of the scene around the beaches (SC beach)
