To anyone that has had one, are they that much bigger than an 8.25?

I wanna move up but at the same time I dont wanna lose my tricks, so any help would be appreciated.

Anyone thats had an 8.5, just tell me how it feels to skate street with it.

thanks

Edit: and would thunder 147 hi's(8 inches) work okay on a deck that big? I know 149's would be the best but I dont really want to buy new trucks if it isnt neccesary.

i went from 8.25 to 8.5 and its different, I still havent decided if I'm going to stick with it, all of my tricks got better except for straight kickflips and heelflips, if you dont have size 8 trucks already get some cause its necessary. You wont lose hardly any tricks, more landing room, its like moving from 8 to 8.25 all over again.

That was pretty much exactly what I wanted to hear.

I have an 8.5 Toy Machine that I mess around with and I can flip it pretty much the same as my current 8.06 deck

You won't lose your tricks... TRUST ME ON THIS.

I had a 8.0 and I got a 8.4 and I am still doing the same shit. Yes... hardflips, frontside flips, tre flips, inward heels. Once you get used to it you will be fine.

You won't lose your tricks, but you probably won't get them as high. I'm smaller than you and still just starting out, but I recently switched from a 7.75 to an 8 and could barely ollie anymore (front of the board just felt heavy). So I switched back to a 7.75 and now my front foot practically shoots off my board when I ollie. Personal preference I suppose...
