ceramic bearings cost 60 dollars more than regular bearings, and they spin faster and longer, and I buy shit bearings and never clean them.

Yeah, you should if you don't want to buy a new set every few months.
You just need to grease them and for God sakes,
DON'T USE WD-40

The actual "difference" between "ceramic bearings" and "regular" ones is the balls. If the balls are ceramic and the races are steel, these are "hybrid ceramics" and the only kind of "ceramics" beings sold for skateboarding. (There are some all-white, all ceramic bearings on the internet, but they're not for skating.) Pretty much all ceramic bearings, from the $15/set eBay specials up to the Bones Ceramics, also use a nylon or other plastic cage/crown for the balls, instead of the beefy, slow stamped metal cages used in cheapass, greased bearings that get all kinds of cute brand names on them.
In practice, "cheapo ceramics" are killer rain bearings because they're much more resistant to rustings and related damage. If you ride pools, ramps or streets for speed, you already know that clean bearings are faster, and ceramics can be good for that, too.
