So i just got a vx1000, and this is one of the first things i shot with it....
I need you guys to tear this apart and give me as much help as possible because i'm still not used to using the vx and i know the filming is horrible
I didn't focus on the editing at all, so don't mind that....
don't mind the last sentence either, it's just a little inside joke with my friend...

Zoom in on something pretty far, and focus.
So you'll stay in focus as long as you don't zoom past that point.
Open the battery door, open the menu and the setting right under the setting ending in "10"
open it up, and scroll down. There should be two bars.
First one is Color levels second one is sharpness.
Turn color bars up all the way to the right, or one notch before the farthest point.
Turn sharpness all the way up IN DAYLIGHT, and two down from the far right in LOW LIGHT.
White balance accordingly to where you are.
Make sure to never use auto focus, and adjust your shutter speed, and exposure always.
Good luck.

obviously you dont do all of that becaues your shots are so out of focus at the beginning
unless you want it like that

yeah, that was sort of experimental shit, i'm not very good with the focus....
which does prove that i'm doing shit manualy...
Thats why i want some suggestions on the actual filming itself, not on the settings of the camcorder...

umm for this shot i would have started zoomed in towards the top of the set and as the skater rolls up to it slowly zoom out like your going with him, when he pops and starts to go down pan the camera downwards and when he lands you should follow him riding away for a little bit but dont keep it on him, especially you dont want to turn your body and camera all the way around towards the opposite direction this looks very amateur.
reference: it gets repetitive but you may pick up alot of techniques just by watching other videos (i filmed all of this(

Homie, There's a fatty manual focus ring on the front.
You don't have to be good with focusing. A 5 year old could do it haha
for reference if you didn't know: Turn focus on manual. (middle setting)
Then turn the ring as you please, its perfectly focused when the middle circle turns white.
But only if there's nothing in your way of what your trying to focus on, and its an open area for the subject.
Also for future reference.

I tore it apart and tried to help you. Settings are very important, and key in filming. You should know that.
I don't care whether you want help on actual filming or not, if you can't set the damn camera you shouldn't really be filming with it.
First-second-last
Settings-composition-panning and movement.
That's the order you should be filming. Look around your area, decide weather it should be filmer longlen's or fisheye. (well in your case only longlens)
Find things you could film off of to make it interesting and unique.
Get creative in your filming.

What i ment for the focus, is i'm still not used to using it to much on manual, yes don't worry i know how to use my vx, and like i said before, i already put my settings pretty much like you said in your last posts (maybe not exactly the same, because it suits me better), i know the settings on the vx, its not something that worries me too much since i pretty much know how to switch most of the settings on the camcorder (some buttons i still have no idea what they are for....)
but thanks anyways :)....
And getting creative is a good idea, i'll try that too....
One thing i don't know is the relation between the weather and using a fisheye or longlens... could you explain that more?
Thanks alot.....
