View Full Version : how can u tell the nose and the tail on a blank deck?
So I got a sturdy mold from blankdecks.com today
and I can't tell which end is the nose or the tail.
Is there an easy way to tell?

nose is broader and the tail is usually smaller and shorter. only brands like dgk reverse that...

Stomp in the middle of the board really hard. and see which side comes up first.
The one that goes up first is always the tail.

It's considered "proper" to skate the tail normally, but it's not like if you skate the nose we're all going to kill you :P.

Hehe...I usedta rag on this one friend I had for skating the nose. Everytime he did something I thought was sick I'd be like "that sucked" and he'd asked why and I'd say "because you did it on the nose". He eventually switched cause he was tired of it haha.

Huh? wtf?
Maybe they're just reversing the graphic? That would make more sense, I mean how do you even know it's supposed to be the tail if it's bigger? I'd always go by shape when judging what was tail and nose.
I mean if I knew that I'd be like "dgk's are wierd, the graphic is on upside down".
If I got one and it was like you say I'd definitely ride it "backwards" (but I wouldn't consider it backwards).

I'm pretty sure they don't...
But I've skated every board I've ever had backwards with the bigger side as my tail. So just skate it how you want to. Isn't that what it's all about?

It doesn't even really matter I used to awlays skate with the nose, and it doesn't look that much different skating it though. But if you truly care about skating in a different possition you can mark it, or get grip marking it out with some kind of symbol or logo.
