View Full Version : Red Bull question

12-31-2008, 08:48 AM
If I consume 2 or 3 Red Bulls in about 2 minutes, can this harm me in any way? I've heard shit before about people's heart rates going way up and they feel like they are going to explode. I've also heard of shakiness, dizziness, etc.

Does anybody know about that shit?

In fact, because Red Bull has so much caffeine – it can actually dehydrate the drinker. That means if you’re physically exerting yourself and drink just a Red Bull, the lack of hydration could strain your heart.

In 2000, Ross Cooney, a healthy, 18-year-old basketball player from Limerick, Ireland, collapsed on the court and died after drinking four cans of Red Bull before a basketball game.

The connection between Cooney’s death and Red Bull remains inconclusive; a coroner's inquest found that he died as a result of Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (sudden death due to cardiac arrest brought on by an arrhythmic episode).
There have been other serious health events reported after people exerted themselves and drank Red Bull. But again, there’s no evidence to conclude that the drink's ingredients (http://www.cbc.ca/consumers/market/files/health/redbull/ingredients.html) affected people’s hearts.

red bull sucks anyways

12-31-2008, 09:03 AM
why do you need to drink 2-3 redbulls in 2 minutes?

12-31-2008, 09:10 AM
It's a dare at work.

12-31-2008, 09:12 AM
yeah there is a difference between a funny dare and a stupid dare

that dare is stupid it's not worth the risk of being send to the hospital unless it's for like 1000 dollars or something.

12-31-2008, 09:12 AM
your gonna be fine. the worst that could happen is you get a little jumpy. its fuckin red bull. its not like you had some spike or redline or something

12-31-2008, 09:16 AM
That's what I figured, I mean I don't drink Red Bull everyday, but I've had like 4 in a day before. I was just double checking to see if anyone knew differently than what Google told me. I've drank one of the big ones as one serving before, so I figure two small ones is almost the same? I don't know the specific ounces for each...

12-31-2008, 09:18 AM
yea that's why i'm not an energy drink person. hell, i don't even drink coffee

12-31-2008, 09:21 AM

12-31-2008, 09:25 AM

12-31-2008, 09:31 AM

12-31-2008, 10:24 AM

12-31-2008, 11:52 AM
drink water before hand and dont do any physical activity before or after and im sure you will be fine

12-31-2008, 12:08 PM

You'll be fine. Unless you're like a newborn baby.

12-31-2008, 12:09 PM
It depends on how sensitive your body is to caffiene.

I know there are some people that cant even drink one energy drink or they will start shaking, but I have had 3 monsters in a couple of minutes several times and I am fine.

As long as you have had a few in a day before and you werent getting dizzy or feeling sick you should be fine.

12-31-2008, 12:15 PM
I don't know, but if you drink four you'll be hospitalized or killed.

12-31-2008, 12:18 PM
You're all so retarded. 4 Redbulls is NOT gonna kill you at 15 or 16, unless you have a serious heart condition.

12-31-2008, 12:20 PM
It's a dare at work.
How many cool points are on the line?

12-31-2008, 12:29 PM
I've done it. Doesn't feel any different than after drinking only one.

12-31-2008, 02:01 PM
One time my dad had like 5 in 15 minutes, and his ears were ringing and you could literally hear his heart beat...

12-31-2008, 02:03 PM
yea i have 3 friends that had stomach pumped because of that

12-31-2008, 02:18 PM
lol sorry if im dumb, but wouldn't that be like hazing? or is hazing only with alcohol

12-31-2008, 02:21 PM
if you feel like your heart is going to pop out of your chest put your thumb in your mouth and try to push the air out through your mouth, that slows down your heart

12-31-2008, 02:21 PM
I remember one time I had a vitamin energy before I went to the skatepark. I couldn't stop shaking for a good 20 minutes, it was horrible. Now I don't even drink energy drinks.

No, you'll be fine. I drank two 16 oz. Monsters in like 10 minutes once and I was just really jittery. You should be good.

First off, the article's validity is already questionable when it cites "Although caffine is not addictive". It is indeed addictive, but not nearly enough to the point it can prove to be too big of an issue.

Secondly, he was 40 years old and worked nightshifts fulltime. WITH an enlarged heart. Your very own article states: "According to the pathologist, this will not have any effect in people with a normal heart. "

It proved MY statment was real, haha.

12-31-2008, 04:56 PM
hell, i don't even drink coffee

12-31-2008, 06:04 PM
I don't drink energy drinks at all, because :
1. I'm only 14 and I don't like stuff like that.
2. I heard they're bad for you
3. Gatorade is the closest thing I drink to an energy drink.

i love drywall
12-31-2008, 06:12 PM
i drink water, tea, and cream soda only

12-31-2008, 06:13 PM
red bull cannot, if you're healthy, but if you have heart problems and it was monster or rockstar then you would be in trouble. But 3 redbulls has less caffeine than a big rockstar and i've chugged one of those before with no problems.

It CAN. Do you feel shitty? If not, dont stress it.

12-31-2008, 06:33 PM
I'm home now. I ended up doing 4 in 30 minutes, no adverse effects.

12-31-2008, 06:39 PM
good, otherwise i might have had to peer pressure you by repeatedly shouting "PUSSY" or "NO BALLS!!!" until you either hit me or did it.

12-31-2008, 07:03 PM
if you're like me, physically addicted to caffeine, then you could drink like 5 and not feel anything.

12-31-2008, 07:05 PM
if you're like me, physically addicted to caffeine, then you could drink like 5 and not feel anything.

that would suck being addicted, i drink alot of energy drinks, 2 or three a day every day for like a month, and then i'll stop for a month with no adverse effects.

12-31-2008, 10:03 PM
I drank 2 bottles Redline in about 3-4 minutes over the summer. I was fine. The only thing I noticed was I was just really hyped on everything for about an hour. Other than that, I didn't feel jittery or anything at all.

energy drinks taste like pure shit. Drinking them for enjoyment doesn't even make sense. I only drink them when I need to study.
