Bam is the face of skateboarding these days. Yes, I'm sorry to say it, but like it or not, the guy stars in a major part of THUG 2, helped make skating commerical with Jackass, and then had companies like Adio, Element and Destructo all sucking his cock for his signature.

however, just because he got popular fast, does NOT make him a sellout. Does NOT I repeat NOT make him a sellout. If when he had started skating he had said "I will never skate for big companies. I will keep it real, make my money off comps and video appearances and never release merchandise" and then eventually gone on to do what hes done, that would be "selling out".

To sell out, you have to make a claim or statement, and then go back on that claim in the interest of money. For example, metallica claimed to always be about the music, but after their fifth album, they changed their style, to make it more consumer friendly, to therefore make money. this is elling out.

however, bam never made any promises or committments, therefore, he can't have sold out.

However, Bam HAS whored himself. Whoring yourself means making money off of every little inch of your sport. This is like having a sponsor for everything, then dipping into making bags, watches, jewellery, etc etc etc. I mean, Bam has everything with his name on it. Hats, shirts, shoes, laces, trucks, wheels, bearings boards, fake facial hair, the EVERYTHING!

This is whoring yourself, but at the same time this makes him a SMART businessman.

Are you telling me that if a million and one companies came up to you and offered to put your name on stuff, just for skating and doing your usual thing, you wouldn't do it? You'd be making thousands a day by sitting on your ass?! He could effectively retire now and be comfortable for life.

He's actually a good skater, and I like his style. He skates really good, does some cool stuff like firecrackers and riding down big sets, and can kill parks and mini ramps. I just don't like his shows. I think some of his products actually look cool.
