The only decent thing they did in their career was helping Chuck Schuldiner with his medical bills. Other than that, there were never anything great.

In my opinion.

The only nu-metal I can really listen to is System Of A Down's Toxicity and their first one. Some of Linkin Parks Hybrid Theory, which I haven't listened to in like a year and a half.

i thought soad were like 'alterna-metal' somewhat

isnt nu metal supposed to be hip hop/rap infused metal?

I don't know. There used to be a sticker on the Toxicity album that said boldly "This is nu-metal, the sound of today" or something along those lines.

I think System Of A Down is their own genre, like Primus.

i think genres are way to specific these days.

Korn can be credited for creating the nu metal genre, though the group has often said they don't like to be put in that category themselves. When asked of his opinion on Korn being dubbed the first "nu metal" band, Jonathan Davis replied:

"We've spawned a lot of clones, but let me explain... Well, I hate the nu metal term. We have always just been a band that rocks. We didn't like when people called us a metal band, we are just Korn. People just use these terms when they cannot describe something, but nu metal... when so many bands started making music that sounded like us, that is when nu metal was born. We don't have anything to do with it for real, I feel. I wouldn't wanna call Red Hot Chili Peppers a funk band, and we are not metal or nu metal, we are Korn. Nu metal is just a term that doesn't mean anything."[51]

i took that from wikipedia

Primus' sound is more like heavy, dark funk with a dash of weirdness, and Soad is a band that doesn't try to stick to a certain genre, so it'd be weird to call them nu metal.

but yeah i've always liked Korn. I recently dug out Issues out of my cd collection and been getting back into them

Faith No More were credited with starting nu metal im pretty sure. Although they hated it and dont fit the image at all, they were the seeds. Read that somewhere.

Nu metals a crap genre, faith no more kick ass and theres a smattering of songs I like, but most nu metal albumbs are shit.
