by musicianship, like the punk band witht he most technical ability haha

id say the buzzcocks, some of there solos actually have some decent stuff in them, and they use scales (penatonic mind you) but its not just hitting a highpitched note real fast over the other chords, and there bassist actually throws in some easy but at least good sounding and fitting runs under the music

but the clash has the i think best chord progressions and the more reagaeish rythym takes a bit more skilll

what do you think????????/

I think The Clash were certainly one of the most creative bands when it came to amalgamating different styles together, especially when it came to mixing dub influence into stuff. However, that doesn't necessarily put the "talent" on them, but rather the producers. Still, I think they hold into the very small category of "talented punk bands."

The other few who I would definitely put into that category are X, The Replacements, The Embarrassment, and Stiff Little Fingers.

Also, Ted Leo's new stuff that hasn't been released yet is very very punk and very very talented.

Billy Talent is pretty good.

I'm not a die-hard fan, but I listen to them on occasion, they're definitely punk.

That's what punk is now?

Now I know why I don't listen to much modern music.

ramones sound great lol, i have all of there albums lol, but they suck haha, billy talent, i havent really heard much from him but there was nothin that stood out to me just an average punk band

but look at the other bands, you have people using power chords just playing as fast as they can, the clash actually used bar chords, had leads in some of there songs and were at least a little bit diverse
The other few who I would definitely put into that category are X, The Replacements, The Embarrassment, and Stiff Little Fingers.
never head of the embarrassment, but stiff little fingers i know dont really have that much to offer

lol rancid has no musicianship what so ever and nofx is pretty bad as well
