Hell yay. I've been loving this stuff ever since hearing an old AJJ album I had on my computer that I never listened to. Ha.

Anyway, some older stuff? The Fugs? Holy Modal Rounders?

Me and my friend are going around hitchhiking CA playing music wherever we can/want to. One acoustic guitar each. Or maybe I'll have tabla, I don't know. We'll prolly go with a guitar each. But that's not the point. Point is I'm writing stuff all this year for it. We might record a 'full album' near the start of summer and send it out on tape, before going out.

Hit me up with some names! I'd love to hear more of this stuff.

The term "Folk punk" is rather redundant.

In any case, check out Jeffrey Lewis. He has an album that's nothing but anti-folk covers of Crass songs.

Kimya Dawson? She's maybe isn't 'folk punk' but she's fantastic too-- only reason I bring her up is The Moldy Peaches, etc.

When I think of "Moldy Peaches", I think of like............Stinky, gross vaginas.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I really want to do that. Like when I get out of high school, summer before college, just spend a month traveling and playing for cash.

im planning on doing that next summer in may. but im going to go alone. im going to sell all my guitar equipment and buy a nice acoustic and a bike and bike down to the east coast of canada. the only problem is i have a group of frineds whos last summer that will be before they head off to university and almost all of them are planning on going out of the city so that will suck a lot.

Ahhh I love every video and band you just listed there. Backyard folk shows are getting increasingly popular around here because my friends have been setting up a lot of them, especially this summer. I've met so many amazing people, like project: CITIZEN, froseph, alex and the imaginary friends. Folk(/punk) shows are some of the chillest environments I've ever been in in my life, I love them with all my heart, everybody's always so nice and passionate about life and they know their shit, it's incredible, attending shows like this has seriously changed me as a person as far as my goals and outlook and everything go. If anyone's up for exchanging some music hit me up 'cause I've got a ton but I'm definitely up for getting into more.

Well I got the Wingnut Dishwashers Union album a while ago after seeing this thread-- by the way know where I can buy it?

Or where I can buy any of this stuff? My record shop is a mainstream monster-- for the most part-- and I usually spend all/most of my time in the vinyl.

That sounds like alot of fun. If you really want a good acoustic get a Martin. There the best guitars ive ever held in my hands. I have a D18 Martin and its amazing.
