In my pursuit of jewishness I clean my bearings every month, so far it has saved me so many dollars. I soak them in paint thinner overnight, let them dry the next morning and right before I put them back on I put speed cream in them. Is there a better method out there that doesn't cost a lot of money? I think the paint thinner is starting to fail me.

Ermm no. That's what i do. If you wanna save money, you should stop buying speed cream. I've never had a bearing melt on me when i didn't put in speed cream before so no lube is fine.
Get mini logo's. Both sides are shielded. One is Rubber, the other side is metal. Never will need to clean them and they already have speed cream in the. They are better than reds IMO.

for my RnR bearings...
- take the shields off
- put them in a bottle with brake cleaner and shake it up for like 10 minutes
- take them out and dry them with a blow dryer (then place the spacers/washers in the bottle and shake them up and then take them out and blow dry them)
- put two drops of the RnR lube in each bearings
- put the shields back on and skate around for a bit to break the lube in
but i havent cleaned them lately....i actually ride without shields now...lol

Rub and soak them in detergent (the kind you wash dishes with)
Dry them out and lube them with Tri-Flo.

I swear on my life that when you ollie off big stuff like loading docks, your bearings go faster. I didnt clean mine for a year; everytime they got dirty, I jumped off big shit, and they stayed clean for a whole year. the only problem is, they dont get 100% cleaner, (say about 90%) so it's not a method which'll last forever.
or use mouthwash. it keeps your bearings fast and smooth, and stops from gingervitis.
