As I was reading a magazine, I came across a REAL ad. It said something along the lines of "No fake swap-out bullshit here."

Then it hit me. Is it possible that companies make the products sold in stores with lesser quality than the products that go to the pros/ams/anyone on the team?

No...and it wouldn't make much sense. They just send a bunch of specified product from the warehouse to the pros/ams homes.

Skatetastic!

I think they do, but all they're doing is making our boards good, but maybe using better time/ effort to make a board for pros? It seems reasonable that they might do it... But like hsu u said they do get shit shipped to their house in bulk so i doubt they make their decks differnt

they actually do that, they make specific board sizes for the pros but just normal in store. So you only have the grapic not the shape

i doubt it that would be a lot of trouble. Plus kids that buy their boards are what makes them their money so why would they make them cheaper cause then no one would buy it but you never kno

Yeah, that's true. Most pros ride 8.0+ boards which most of us would find ginormous and heavy. But I'm pretty sure the wood is the same...but I do remember hearing someone (I think it was Janoski) saying he skated boards with a special colour stain.

Still other than shapes and other oddities we're probably riding the same quality wood and urethane. Plus, they can always setup a new deck/wheels if they're not feeling it...lucky bastards.

like many have already said....i think they tailor their decks according to their pros...like specific sizes, concavity, and whatnot....and they sell just regular sizes and shapes to the public.....however, i don't think they're lesser quality....

Well, I'd prefer to ride what the pros ride. I ride nothing smaller than 8.125 ish, so they width isn't a biggie. I wish more companies would sell bigger sizes.

true, i'm getting back to my old roots of size 8 decks...and it's tough to find 8s in decks that you like...i think the only company i've seen that sells 8s consistently is toy machine...

Pros have specific shapes that are custom made, but they aren't "better".
