Hey everyone, i was skating with my friend the other day and he commented on my deck and told me he didnt like the width, what does the width of the deck have to do with anything? just personal preference? thanks in advance

it has alot to do with your skating and balance and landings and style.

yea and if ur width is wider its a little heavier....and a smaller one is lighter....i ride now a 8.25.......i prefer wider decks because it gives more space to land on my board

yeah on a skinnier board flip tricks are easier since there is less to flip but you lose stability, i started out with a 7.5, now i skate 7.75 and would never buy a 7.5 again, way to skinny. i rode my friends 8" board and liked it alot so i might try that size next idk.

I used to ride 8, but i soon realized that 7.8's are pretty much the perfect width.

Wouldn't the size of your feet determine how "wide" the board is..like small feet-smaller board still wide..is that right?

Not really.

Its all personal preference.

Big deck= Slower flip, but more room to catch and land.

Small deck= Faster flip, but less room to catch and land.

smaller deck = spin faster
wider decks = catching tricks easier.

EDIT: damn, fallen-is-ballen beat me

Yeah, basically what has already been explained. I used to ride 7.5s all the time but decided it was time to move up to a larger sized board. 7.9 or 7.8 is now ideal for me.

What is the deck width to truck axle width thing..like what width boards with what size trucks?...I need new something cause my board is pretty heavy..trucks and decks are the two things that determine weight..right?
