Gibson for sure. Fenders are too thin and bright for me. i like a deep, crisp tone from a nice thick mahogany body.

and even if i wanted a lighter, brighter sound, i'd get a Gretsch over a fender any day.

Gibson definitely.

Hmm that's really tough so I'm going to have to say.......

I can't get personal with the Les Paul... It's so log-eqsue. Don't get me wrong, the tone is great and all that jazz, but it just doesn't have that same feel as a nice Fender Strat or Jazzmaster.

I've been playing a Fender all this time and I see no reason to stop now.

It depends.

Fender Strats for me, I love Gibsons but for LPs I just can't get over the shape, like I find it so much easier to play my strat then an LP.

For acoustics, Fender definitly. Not only because Fenders just make better quality acoustics, Gibsons are rediculously overpriced. My 300$ GDO plays better than $2,500 Hummingbirds.

For Electric, I still prefer Fenders. Nothing beats a nice strat or Tele.

I've never really found anything impressive about any Gibson I've played. I like Explorers, but all their guitars are rediculously expensive. Especially bluegrass. Gibson Bluegrass FUCKING SUCKS.

They sound fucking lovely. But my shop is run by douches. They jacked a 700 dollar PRS up to like 1200 dollars, it's insane.

Damn... Yeah it's getting difficult to find honest, legit music shops these days. The large place near me turned into a house of elitist idiots after my favorite sales guy left. He set me up with my current rig, but then went on to bigger and better things, and now its all went to hell. However, a new place just opened and they seem cool so far. That sort of price gouging is enough to make a man sick though.

god idk, fender gibson and ibanez all seem pretty close to me. I'm not experienced enough to be able to decide if i like a certain brand more than another, and i haven't played enough guitars yet. BUT, planning on going to guitar center sometime real soon, so i should be able to play some awesome guitars. :)

DomPy

gibson, but if there was a set neck tele with humbuckers, that opinion could easily be changed

You can get a nice, full mid tone on Fender Strats by playing on the neck/middle pick up.

Yeah, thats why I like Fenders more, I feel like I have more control over the sound.

yea but that sound like shit if you make that distorted. basically any single coil on distortion sucks balls unless you want the same tone as hendrix. its just too thin and lifeless for legit rock/punk/metal tones.

plus if you get push/pull pots on a les paul you have even MORE control over your tone than a fender and it sounds better too because it has more body to it.

Wowee Zowee

I think the distorted single coil tone has a lot to do with amp as well... Even when I run my Squier through a pedal and into the Twin, it still sounds fiiiiiiine. Tone is dependent on a good combo of guitar (pickups, wood, etc), pedal (if needed) and amp.

I like Schecter's but gibsons are nice. Right now I'm just playing an epiphone.
