All musicians if you play any instrument, what got you into playing it?

With me just the fun part of playing, the feeling of progression and JP's solo album.

My friend took up guitar so i started drums in hope of starting a band. 4 years later i stopped taking lessons because i wasn't getting anywhere.

Linkin Park, sadly.

I never heard anything as heavy as that at that time(I was like 13). After getting in guitar I went through a few more lame-ish bands before getting into classic rock, and now thrash/death/black metal, as well as other styles of music.

my parents refused to get me anything non-productive like video games n stuff for my birthday so i asked for an acoustic guitar for the hell of it.

My parents played classical CDs for me when I was a baby, and I started playing piano at three but moved to bass guitar a little later on once I saw guys like Cliff Burton ripping it up. To this day music's been the only constant thing in my life that I've been good with, so I'm taking all the possible music courses in my high school to bulk up my knowledge and hopefully attend a music school later on.

i liked alot of different music as a kid and i had all of these crazy compositions in my head. what got me into playing guitar though was an old green electric i found in my basement when i was 14. a year after playing that i got a acoustic and a few months later i started taking lessons.

I wanted to play guitar when I was like 5 but my parents refused, I only just recently played guitar, but probably Thomas Eraks and Omar Rodriguez Lopez' ripping got me into picking up a guitar.

I had always wanted to play guitar. My dad never let me though cuz he said he didnt wanna go through the first 6 months of me sucking and him having to listen to it. I got a fender about 8 months ago and still playing, I haven't quit cuz I love being able to make atleast some kind of music even if it sucks

The 30 second pro videos were the best. Mullen blew me away.

His tricks still blow me away, but back then I was stunned.

I still think it's more fun to watch someone like mullen than just watch a video of all hammers.

Yeah Mullen and Daewon rock, that technic stuff and freestyle looks awesome.

I think I started playing keyboard when I was listening to Children of Bodom (at the point, it was the first metal band I'd heard to use a keyboard to that extent) and decided that it would be cool to try playing some of it after about 4-5 months of listening to them.

Then, I started to play guitar almost exactly (about five days off) one year after keyboards because I enjoyed playing my friends' guitars and decided to play it as an instrument in the band that I was forming - this ended up not happening, but I still play the instrument (with plans for a one-man solo project, where I would play that instrument).
