well first you are gonna have to clarify whether you want to play acoustic or electric.but ill name som electrics off anyway ibanez rg-120 costs 200 bucks and they play really nice epiphones which range from 200 to 600 (depending on the neck, paint, and tone)
and a squire which i dont reccomend because they sound terrible but they are only $100.

good beggining guitar packs

fender squire set-probally the worst you could get. everyone has it and it just doesnt suond like a real guitar. The amp it comes with is pretty good.

ibanez gio- some look like squire, but they have more modles and varitey. my gio has black finish with tribal humbuckers. the amp it comes with is decent, there is no over drive button so you have to mess with it to get a good clean tone.

gibson epiphone sg- these are real nice, alot come in the black finish and the quality of the sound is great. the amp it comes with is pretty good, its real small and light weight.

those are the 3 most common beggining guitars fo ya

Someone needs to make a "I wanna start guitar thread, but how?" thread and get it stickied. Theres so many of these and pretty much its just 'get an acoustic' which is the good way to go. Maybe your dad has one lying around, who knows. Thats how I got started, on my dads ancient acoustic

I bought a peavey acoustic for 100$ at a pawn shop as one of my first guitars. Worked fine for me

I'd go for an ibanez.
