Alright so I'm taking Journalism this year and it could be a really sweet class. But the teacher is a complete whore. She completely ruins the class. Because of the natur of the cl**** she can basically grade anything however she feels. So, she can give a bad grade to a decent piece of writing simply because she feels like she wants to. I hate it.

Here's a short article (100-150 words requirement) that I wrote and she gave me a fucking 60 on it:

Graffiti: Art or Vandalism?

To many people graffiti and art are two distinctly unrelated words. However, there is a whole other realm to the world of graffiti that is much different than the stereotypical form seen in almost any urban environment. To numerous individuals, graffiti and art are one in the same. Graffiti artists, such as the United Kingdom’s Banksy, dedicate a lot of time and effort towards creating a work of art that is not only easy on the eyes but will make people think as well. Banksy is the creator many pieces that can be seen all over the UK. His art is not only nice to look at but also but often conveys a meaning to it as well. One such piece criticizes the denouncing of the elderly by stating that nearly everyone will reach that age. There are also many pieces that are 100% legal. Time even asked graffiti artists to paint an ad for the magazine. Graffiti is not merely a form of vandalism but is a form of art that takes an immense amount of talent and creativity to be truly successful.

One thing I've learned from being at college is, when writing a thesis or debate, you must view both sides of it. i can only imagine she gave you the 60 because you don't really compare the negative sides of the arguement.

i mean, the article was great, but you started off talking about both art and graffiti, and finished off only talking about art. i think you may need to delve into talking about the graffiti aspects of it as well, and why people are negative.

i know you had a word limit, but you need to balance the arguement, even if some things get left out. Do you get me?

I'm in 10th grade english 2 honors class and on our research paper we had to have a topic, an arguable thesis statement and then have a refutal(aha sp, fuck it) paragraph, so college has nothing to do with it.

You had a few mistakes, in the way of skipped words. If its journalism, what Im getting from it is this; the whole point of the word limit is to express both sides of the argument in a limited amount of space, which happens often in journalism.

I didn't even know there was a grading scale that had the lowest passing grade being 50. I'd have almost all A's with that grading scale.
