i've been playing bass for two years, and i just started acoustic guitar. i either want to buy a new bass or a like starter pack sort of thing for electric guitar because i'm not very fond of the acoustic guitar i have, and it stays at my school most of the time. so what are some good basses and guitar starter packs (guitar + amp is all thats needed really)? oo and my price range is $300

You can't go wrong with the Squier

good god yes you can. in fact, i don' think you can get any more wrong...okay i take that back, you could get a BC Rich.

and back to the threadstarters first post: you won't be getting a good guitar/amp if you buy it in a pack. most brands either take their lowest end guitar (or make one even worse to put in) and put in some shitty 10-15 watt amp.

probably the best amp for a starter would be the Roland Cube 15. its pretty much the only amp worth under 100$ that isnt god awful.

now for guitar, id seriously recommend getting an ibanez RG321. i know it stretches your budget by 70$ but its seriously the best beginner guitar ive ever played and will last you a fucking long time.

but if you want to stay at that 300$ mark, the Epihone G-310 is a great beginner guitar. and if you're really set on that strat style, go with a Yamaha Pacifica rather than a squier.
