Hey I would like to get into ska, I like the positive flow and feel of the music, I need to get away from the horrible emo epidemic. SO can anyone suggest some albums for me to buy, right now I have Keasbey Nights by Catch 22, 3 Reel Big Fish albums, some Mad Caddies and some Capdown. I'm not sure if you'd consider all of these ska, some of them are more punkish.

Anyway, and help appreciated.

(I hear that Operation Ivy is ska? Should I check them out?)

i've never thought of op ivy as being all that ska, but DEFINATLY check them out because they rule!!

catch22 as you've said, awesome, mad caddies the same, although i don't see them as being overly ska.

CAPDOWN, OH MY GOD YES!! Capdown own all!

other bands you should check out...

Skaos
The Skatalites
The Ska Liners
Toasters
SRJ

Operation Ivy is an awesome ska punk band to peep.

There different types of Ska though, there's authentic, 2 tone and third wave. I won't go into detail about these genres but I'd love to recommend some artist.

The Specials, you can't go wrong with these guys. These guys predated Operation Ivy and were all about unity. One of the greatest ska bands ever.

Mad Caddies, you already know about them.

The Skatalites - these guys made Ska what it is, the first Ska band ever...I think :). This is authentic ska.

Prince Buster - yet another great artist from Jamaica, he's got a few ska tracks as well. This is authentic ska.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones - these guys are awesome as well, check them out for yourself and see.

The Slackers - they have some ska tracks i'm sure, not alot but some.

Heptones - more authentic ska, freeshly squeezed from beautiful Jamaica.

Desmond Dekker - authentic ska! yummy stuff!

Dance Hall Crahsers - third wave ska..it's more punky and has more adrenaline.

Crackrock Steady - whoever mentioned this band earlie ron these boards rules, they're a pretty decent ska punk band.

Madness - another great ska band originating from the 2 tone label.

OK, i'll shut up now.

Op Ivy
Choking Victim
Leftover Crack

Op Ivy is like punk/hardcore ska, and the others are crack rock steady, but they blow any other ska band out of the water....

Would Rancid be considered ska?, because I'm not really sure what ska is.
