Why do people buy decks with graphics on them for about $40 extra sometimes even $80 extra? Why don't people just buy blanks?

You are right. It's just that in many skateboard shops there ain't no blank decks. You have to order them. I know my next board is gonna be a blank...

Sometimes I buy them because, Like LostChild said, you don't exactly find too many blank Anti-Heros, blank Krookeds, blank Bakers, etc. I like those brands better than blanks, as I have had a couple and none hold a candle to those. If you find a TRUELY great blank for cheap, let me know. And by the way, most non-blanks around here are 49 bucks.

because most of the blanks i try sucked. I'd rather just get a good deck and land on the bolts.

For me, a graphic deck is £40, plus £5 for griptape.
At the rate I go through decks (one every 1.5 months) I don't really have £45. A year, I'm lookin at spending £450(ish) and thats money I just don't have.
i can get a blank for £20, gripping and shipping included. These decks last as long as my other decks, and I don't have to worry about treating them so good. i personally feel grieved to kick £45 around the street, although at £20 a pop, I'm not too fussed. Even then, I'm only spending about £120 a year, which is a hell of a lot better.
Personally, i also don't find there to be much difference between blanks and graphic decks. They feel equally strong, and often have a better shape and concave. Blanks are easier to deal with.

My ccs blank is pretty good. It feels stronger than my Element but not heavy. Whenever I find the digital camera we have laying around in the shadows I'll take a picture.

why are so many people telling other people to go die, or jump off a cliff, etc..
its just a message board
someone shouldnt have to die because they paid to much for a deck or made a bad post

Why do people buy decks with graphics on them for about $40 extra sometimes even $80 extra? Why don't people just buy blanks? good question and nthe reason i buy graphic decks is i bought 2 difrent types of blanks and they both broke in 7 days or less so i just by darkstar armor plys and they only last a mont or so for me

I thought that they looked nicer then blanks. People all have their opinions about them.
The only blanks they sell around here have a REALLY bad shape.

There are differneces between blanks and others. I have been using California Blanks for the last 4 months and yesterday I bought a Mystery. I love the Mystery even though it cost my 40 something dollars. So I buy graphics when I can and when I cant I buy blanks.

Well I was just joking, and DANG my post has been in more quotes than i could have imagined.
SORRY I WAS ONLY KIDDING. AND... pro decks support pros and their companies so that is one reason to buy them.

When you buy a pro model the skater usually gets a cut of the sales. Board sales are also one way in which popularity is determined so it can also have an influence on publicity for the skater. If you like to support your favorite pro then you will usually buy his model and help support him. Without board sponsors a lot of pros would not be making ends meet. If you don't have a lotta scratch then buy a blank. If you can afford to - then help support your favorite skater. (provided you like his model size and shape) People who think you are just buying a picture have not really thought about this as much as they think. Sometimes saving a few bucks isn't the best idea in the long run. It is a wal-mart mentality.

I break blanks alot faster than graphic decks, about 3 times faster. its worth it to me, pay extra, last 3 times longer

buying a deck for its graphics is stupid though. everyone i know puts stickers all over the bottom of their deck; why not just buy a blank? you can't see the graphics with all that crap on it anyway. if you don't want to buy a blank coz of the quality, that's different.
