They've always had metal roots. You can't listen to Communication Breakdown and say that there isnt anything metal about that, the high pitched vocals, the heavy rock sound, the killer solo.

I have too many favorites. My top 10 would be ehhmm...

Killswitch Engage - Rose of Sharyn
Killswitch Engage - The Element of One
As I Lay Dying - The Darkest Nights
Dimmu Borgir - Vredesbyrd
Dimmu Borgir - Blessings Upon the Throne of Tyranny
Devildriver - Hold Back the Day
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Atreyu - Bleeding Mascara
In Flames - Dawn of a New Day
In Flames - Dead Alone

I have many more, but I don't think I should be listing so much. My favorite band is Killswitch Engage, by the way.

alot of people are arguing about led zepplin. They are rock n roll. With influence of blues. They were early form of rock that came from blues, you can here it in their songs. And yes some zepplin inspired metal. Black sabbath inspired metal to be born, along with steppen wolf and stone cold crazy by queen. But this doesn't mean i like led zepplin thought

Classic rock isn't a genre. Its a lable givin to bands who've made big impact, in Zeppelin's case being the heaviest band to come out around that time.

its a genre given to rock that pretty much started off, also known as old rock, which includes bands like the who and zeppelin. yeah its a "modern" used genre but its still pretty present in todays society. and Zep are definately NOT metal, even if you use your one song, one song does not make a band a specific genre.

Guns N Roses had many references to old blues and 60s rock, are they a clissic rock band now?

I never said it did. I am not calling them a metal band, I am just saying they were the root of metal. I know a song doesn't make a band a certian genre, but a song can be considered a certian genre reguardless of what genre the band is.
