June 2008 FMOTM: xCxCxHx skateboarding

Well you guys voted for him, and eventually we got round to talking to him, this months Featured Member of the Month is…

Let’s start things off with the standard background questions...
What is your name, Where do you come from, How old are you, were you ever a Cub Scout?
My names Colee. I’ve lived in southern Cali my entire life, residing in City of Irvine
I’m 17, 18 next month, and I was cub scout for about a day id guess haha

Next question, another obvious one, I’m sure something all of SBC is aching to know... what exactly does xCxCxHx stand for?
HAHA, it's nothing more than my initials with Xs separating them. Before all that hardcore s**t took over the Xs

Yea yea, sure, I’m sure you were hardcore years before the hXc kids took hold...
damn right I was the OG of the hXc

Still skate much?
I used to devote a LOT of time into skating, but it was all we did back then. Everyday after school we'd meet up and either hit up the school, or go searching through the city for sick spots.
We'd go to the business district and find SICK marble waterfalls to drop in on... loading docks with down rails... all sorts of good s**t, so I was never really into park skating and have always sucked at that. Haha.
My city is a planned community, so there really isn't a downtown. The middle is all residential and when you go on the outskirts its all business, so right across from the Tustin Marine Corps (largest freestanding wooden structures in the world next to some theatre in Osaka Japan). It’s pretty much skate paradise.
I remember starting around age 14 or 15, when we were all in junior high, every Saturday we would go on a journey to this area just picking out sick spots. I think the best place to skate was definitely taco bell headquarters off the 405 freeway. That place was PERFECT. The whole area was just covered in beautiful marble. And there was a marble fountain about 10 feet high that you could drop in from the top.

Big on security then I guess?
BIG time. Whenever we would go, we'd be prepared because we'd only have 5-10 minutes tops.
I remember dropping in and falling in the fountain once right when the guard came. GOOD times man haha
That was back before any of the skaters could afford a decent camera, but I’ll try to dig up a pic of HQ just for good measure.

So you've been skating since that long ago then... next obvious question when'd you start? AND... why?
I started right when I switched into junior high. I had been attending elementary school at the same place for 7 years, and no one from my old school went to my junior high, so I was completely new to everyone.
and I found some chill people who seemed pretty cool, so id kick it with them, but they'd always be skating and I was terrible at it.

So I learned to Ollie... took me a week or two to get it down. And then I would just skate with them down by the school or just going down to 7-11, skating everywhere. And it was fun, progressing, doing huge s**t, great way to pass the time. PLUS, the girls f****n get all hot and bothered for the skater boys, so I had that goin for me haha

Well blobviously... sk8r bois r hawt... So, is it still like that these days, how many of your old crew still skate?
UHHHH actually I still kick it with a lot of the people I learned to skate with.
I mean, we all go to different schools now, but we still all live within 5 minutes of each other.
I remember the kid I used to skate with most, got me to try w**d one day while we were skating this spot Thunder Run (it was on the cover of a BMX thrasher a while ago, sick ass drainage ditch that leads to a 12 foot diameter pipe which gradually gets smaller) and we got high, and I was all s**t, this really isn't a big deal.
All we did was f*****g read each others thoughts and lose compleeete track of time. And ate a feast at Del Taco after skating, haha.

And so the habits of the xCxCxHx we know today began... You think you're going to stick with skating over the years then, or is life as a maturing adult taking its toll?
I'd like to keep skating just in my life as long as I can. It’s so great when you have nothing to do, just take out your board and do some grinds on a ledge, or see what tricks you can nail down a 4 stair. I still like it, and most of my friends who used to would say the same, there just isn't enough time to devote to progress like we used to back in the day, where that’s all we really cared about, was skating as much as possible and learning more tricks, and doing bigger gaps and sets.
PLUS
Skateboarding is the best means of transportation when you're too PODd (past overdose) to drive.
ESPECIALLY in my city, where there’s a cop lurkin behind every stop sign. You get stopped, all you gotta do is pick up your board and book it over a couple fences and you're chillin.
That’s part of the reason id always rather skate than bike.
I've had to help my friend push a heavy ass cruiser over a wall when we were running from cops one day, it was NOT fun.

I see... So... I'm a big fan of Top 5's, but I think 5 is too many, Top 3's...

Tricks?
Oooo… Heelflip fo sho. I never even learned to Kickflip man. I couldn't grasp the concept of it I guess, haha. Uuuhhhm then id say pop shove it

I don't really crave a partner, seeing as how I always pick the crazy ones who go paranoid when they see or hear of me talking to other girls...
But I don't even want that drama in my life. I just get what I can on the weekends. Hit up a party, get drunk and just kick it with a cute girl, see where the night goes...

My favourites always change
Well man, the most badass ride I've ever seen was this M5 on YouTube that overloaded the dynometer and blew it off the f*****g car. That is a f*****g MEAN ride, 1000+ horsepower.
I can’t find the vid anymore but s**t that thing was intense
I don’t really have favourite models man

So, hypercars, or modded cars then?
I love old caddys they look so f*****g sick like the bigass fleetwoods that are just f*****g HUGE inside
Soo luxurious, like the Fleetwood talisman back in the 70s, not the fastest car, but DAMN it looked f****n sexy and felt even better. M5 is my favourite though man because it’s so unique. What other large luxury sedan looks as mean as the m5 and can haul as much ass? None
And the f*****g HANDLING, you can manipulate BMWs to go EXACTLY where you want, its such a f*****g good feeling having such confidence in your car

So I was thinking on my ride home from work today... What's your other ride like, what's your set up right now?
Well my best friend just sold me his setup for $20, it’s an enjoi with enjoi wheels, krux trucks, and bones reds
But it’s kinda small for me so it might be a 7.6 or a 7.5. But it’s got good pop and I have fun with it

Always wanted an Enjoi deck, always seem really snappy...
Ya bro mine has like 50 pressure cracks in it, they aren't very sturdy. F**k china wood
And my cadd…

I've had my caddy for about a year. It was formally my granny's car, but she has macular degeneration and it wasn't safe for her to be driving anymore cause she was hittin lots of s**t.
She gave it to me 2 Christmas ago. And then got it shipped out here for my bday last year, and it's been a GREAT car. I’ve been through SO much s**t with it. I've got it up to 120 and it was scary as f**k haha

That is crazy; I’ve never even hit 70...
Haha well I’m a little bit more sane with my driving; had a couple tickets sober me up.
I live in between 2 6 lane freeways. They meet in my city about 5 minutes from my house and sometimes I will see people doing 140+ late at night.

So one last thing, Colee, How do you feel about being Skateboard-City's Member of the Month for June 2008?
I guess surprised... I’ve never really contributed s**t but humour to SBC so I guess that’s pretty coo haha And to all the members, s**** d**k everyday don’t believe what they tell you in D.A.R.E. class!
if I knew w**d was so legit I woulda been blazin it since age 10 back when the biggest stoner I know today lived about 3 houses down, and stay away from meth.

Meth kills, oh yeah, and f**k CCCS I know a f*****g girl who died from that s**t.
S**t was very f*****g real, very f*****g tragic, and f****n STUPID.
