Hardflip

Hardflips are a trick that lots of people look for help on so since my goal last year was to master nollie, switch, fakie and regular hardflips, i figured i would make a guide! Here you go!
So the hardflip is an uber steezy trick that looks nice in almost every situation.

This is a trick that should be in everyones tricktionary because they are awesome for sets, flatground, gaps, and definitly games of SKATE.

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW AND DO FOR A HARDFLIP:

The three steps to hardflips!

1. In my opinion, the foot position is the most important part. It is different than most flip tricks.

BACK FOOT: You are going to have your back foot placed at about a 20 degree angle on the tail at about the middle of the tail. Nothing to abnormal about that.

FRONT FOOT: Your front foot is going to be at about a 50 degree angle between the centre of the deck and the left edge if you are regular and between the center of the deck and the right edge if you are goofy. Your front foot will be positioned at about halfway of the board.

2. FLIPPING THE HARDFLIP: At first, flipping the hardflip will be the toughest part because since the board has to go through your legs, it is very scary at first that you will get credit carded but jsut have faith!

You are going to SCOOP, not pop, SCOOP the board sort of in a diagonal/forward motion with your back foot so that the board flips upside down between your legs. You must scoop the board with alot of power so it gets the full flip!

AT THE SAME TIME AS THIS...

You are going slide your front foot off the side of the board (right if you are goofy and left if you are regular) at about a 45 degree angle to give it the flipping motion. You want to make sure that you kick your foot out quite a bit once you do the foot sliding motion so that the board can flip through your legs freely.

When these two motions are put together at the same time, you have spun the hardflip.

TIP: Before moving on the the next step, you may want to practice flipping the hardflip so you have a crisp, consistent flip!

3. CATCHING: This is by far the hardest part of the trick.

So, at this point, you have just flipped the board and your legs should be spread out.

As the board is just finishing it's flip, you are going to want to CATCH THE BOARD WITH YOUR FRONT FOOT FIRST so it stops spinning and flipping.

At this point, the board has stopped flipping and spinning and your front foot is on the board. You now want to bring your back foot up onto the board and stomp it to the ground.

Confusing? Here are the catching steps narrowed down:

Spread legs
Put front foot on board after hardflip is done flipping to stop the board
Put back foot on
Stomp

Those are the 3 main steps to the hardflip, now here's some troubleshooting:

TROUBLE SHOOTING:

Problem: When I go to flip the hardflip, the board is always stopped by my front leg!

Solution: When you flip the hardflip, you have to make sure your front foot gets kicked out quite far so there is a space between your legs for the board to flip.

Problem: The board doesn't flip.

Solution: There is 2 possible reasons for this:

You are either not flicking hard enough with your front foot or it is hitting your front leg! Refer to Problem #1 to help with the front leg issue.

Problem: I get credit carded when i try to do hardflips (when the board is vertical and it hits your sack or butt)

Solution: Make sure you scoop the board with all your might so that it does a full flip so to speak, and it doesn't do half a flip and credit card you!

I hope this helps you. This trick may seem impossible for the first while but don't worry, it will come eventually!

GOOD LUCK,
Kristian

No.

Inwards require Heel and the understanding of Varial heel. along with backside shuvs

Hardflips, you need to know f/s shuvs kickflips, and a no comply could help. and yet again how varial and these backward varials work.

Does the flip go forwards or backwards? And if it goes backwards then why flick your foot off the left side? Wouldnt that just make it flip into a kick flip????
