Altamont Apparel
By BobbyGanoosh at 2008-06-26 19:01

"In an era of turbulence and uncertainty, Altamont emerged as a pivotal moment in youth culture, when idealism and anarchy rode together on the same horse and no one knew for certain who was holding the reins."

The above taken from www.altamontapparel.com, Altamont clothing truly is unique. Created by Andrew Reynolds in late 2006, Altamont Apparel has thriving throughout the skateboard clothing world. The team of Andrew Reynolds, FOS, Bryan Herman, Theotis Beasley, Kenny Hoyle, Sammy Baca, Brian “Slash” Hansen, Justin Figueroa, and Garret Hill, has shown the wide diversity that Altamont Apparel illustrates. Their product ranges anywhere from the tight jeans and shirts of Justin Figueroa, to the plaid button downs and shorts of Sammy Baca, to the baggy shirts and jeans of Theotis Beasley. Now, on to the products.

Product:
Fall 2007:
Each new line is created by or focused on two important people. Whether these two people are in the skateboarding world, or in the world of music, art, etc., is up to FOS (as he is the art director).

For Fall 2007, the line was focused on Jimi Hendrix and Patrick O’Dell. Obviously since Jimi Hendrix is no longer living, he did not create the line, however, it was more of a tribute.

The second, is photographer Patrick O’Dell. Featured on every shirt is his own photography.

Spring 2008: Illustrator John Lorenzi is the featured artist.

Along with artist French

Fall 2008:
The featured artist is Neck Face.

And Ricky Powell created the rest of the line.

The shirts, hats, and other accessories made by Altamont are high-quality apparel. When you wear one of their shirts, it feels like no other shirt you’ve ever worn. They are light weight, making the summer time sessions even more enjoyable. The material feels like cotton, except a much much softer cotton. Surprisingly, the light and soft combination does not take away from its durability. I’ve taken many a falls, slides and skids on the concrete whilst wearing Altamont sweatshirts and t-shirts. However, when I look down, expecting to see a rip, I see a clear patch of material, just as I had before I fell. Altamont sweatshirts are also something to behold. They come in a variety of types, ranging from sweaters to hoodies to jackets. Basically, the same goes for sweatshirts as does for t-shirts.

Pants:

Altamont denim comes in 4 different leg styles: Alameda, Wilshire, Fairfax, and Crenshaw. Alameda being the tightest and Crenshaw being the baggiest. See the Fit guide for details.

The pants have the same high caliber material just like the rest of the apparel. They are made with 2% spandex, making for a stretchy fit. The pants are also pretty durable. The only problem I had with durability was with a pair of Alamedas. The pants began to rip right in between my legs. Although, I did have a half size too small. Either way, this should not have happened. However, my newer pair of Herman Wilshire’s has been lasting me quite a while, and they skate like heaven.

To conclude, I will say that Altamont is one of my favorite companies thus far. Their clothing is great, the team is great, and their style is great. This is all the making for a great company right? Well, there’s one little drawback, the pants cost $70.00+ and the t-shirts $21.00+. For me, this is by far the greatest flaw, as the only time I can get Altamont clothes is Christmas and my birthday. Nonetheless, if money is not an issue for you, give Altamont a chance, you will be satisfied.

They fucking jack the prices for those clothes where I live, not worth it in my opinion.

Great.

but i actually think it's definitely worth it. The clothes are soooo nice. If you've ever tried on a pair of alty pants, you would know.

Nice, I haven't tried anything though, I'll try and get a t-shirt soon.

I'm not saying the clothes aren't quality, I know they are, I've tried on their clothes, it's just I can't be spending that kinda money on clothes.

True that. That's why i said at the end that it's good for christmas or birthday

For sure, hell I might just ask for a pair of their pants this Christmas. Kudos for the idea, yeah I'm an idiot.

I have some Almeda cords in maroon, and they're the most comfy pants in the world. But there's a big ass whole in the leg above the knee, so that's a bit annoying.

I just now read the article, and I must say, it's put together well. At first I thought the idea of an article dedicated to a clothing company would be kinda lame, but I really liked this.

You and I were/are Altamont buddies, remember?
